«The Global Opportunities for Sustainable Development Goals (GO4SDGs) in Central Asia»

In October 2022, the project “The Global Opportunities for Sustainable Development Goals (GO4SDGs) in Central Asia” was launched at the Kazakh- German University (DKU) with the support of the UN Environment Programme (UNEP). The aim of the project is to promote the concept of a sustainable university among the youth and educational institutions of Central Asia.

The Global Opportunity Framework for Sustainable Development (GO4SDGs) was developed by the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) and the German Ministry of the Environment in 2019 to accelerate regional solutions for an inclusive green economy and sustainable consumption and production by sharing best practices and providing evidence-based knowledge, policy tools and capacity development opportunities in priority areas to “build back better”. In this regard, GO4SDGs have made a valuable contribution by presenting the book Green Nudges (“Green Nudges”) and a program for universities to make positive changes, making them more environmentally friendly, and thus influencing the behavior and process decision making.

Activity 1 Introduce Sustainable University Lifestyles Model (Pilot Activities on Sustainable Lifestyles with and through Universities) through sustainable lifestyles-oriented education, research, and operation

  • Kick-off webinar on sustainable lifestyles in universities

The launch webinar on sustainable lifestyles in universities is one of the key areas of work of the UNEP Global Opportunities for Sustainable Development (GO4SDG) Program to promote sustainable lifestyles among young people to accelerate progress towards the 2030 Agenda. GO4SDGs focuses its work on achieving SDG 12 (Sustainable consumption and production) and SDG 8 (Decent work and a green economy). The webinar aims to promote innovation, lifestyle and youth participation as drivers of sustainable consumption and production.
    Target

The main goal of the kick-off webinar is to present the regional project “Promoting sustainable lifestyles through and through universities” aimed at promoting sustainable development practices in universities throughout the Europe region and in particular through pilot activities in the Central Asia sub-region. The webinar will help build capacity and raise awareness among universities and students on topics related to sustainable lifestyles as well as the Little Book of Green Incentives.
